WINTERIZING YOUR RV
Materials needed:
- RV Antifreeze
- Pump (Hand)
- Blow-out plug

RV Pump converter kit (winterizing)
- If a trailer, raise the front of your vehicle as high as possible by cranking the
coupler jack all the way up allowing the trailer to drain. After draining, return to the
level position.
- Open all faucets in the vehicle.
- Open the drain on the water tank and water heater and allow water to drain out.
- Close all faucets and drains on the cold water tank, but leave the hot water tank drain
valve open.
- With an air pressure hose, thoroughly blow out the lines, checking each faucet, one at a
time, to see that no water remains in the faucets or lines. If you have a demand system,
you will have to use a blow out plug on your city water hook up.
- Close all faucets and drain valves. Close water heater drain valve/plug.
- Install RV Pump converter kit.
- Hook up hose from pump winterizer converter kit into gallon of antifreeze.
- Note: Steps J-L are for the COLD water side only!
- Open up cold water faucet farthest away from the pump
- Turn on pump. Leave faucet on until antifreeze is visible.
- Do the same in the tub, sink, toilet, outside shower cold side only.
- Note: Steps N-T are for the HOT water side only!
- Remove the hose from the pump winterizer kit and put the cap back on.
- Take hand pump, put hose over kitchen faucet outlet, turn on faucet.
- Open up hot side in tub, pump antifreeze until its visible in tub.
- Close tub faucet, open sink faucet. Pump antifreeze until visible.
- Close sink faucet. Pump antifreeze through remaining hot water faucets.
- Remove hand pump from kitchen faucet. Pour remaining antifreeze down all traps.
- Empty your holding tank and fresh water tanks.
Ice makers and water filters are not included in this process.
WINTERIZE YOUR RV WITH HOT WATER BY-PASS
Materials you will need:
- RV Pump converter kit(winterizing)
- 2 gal RV Antifreeze (3 gal if unit is over 30)
- Install RV pump converter kit between water tank and pump. (Leave in line permanently)
- Drain water heater. Leave valves in the summer position.
- Hook up air to city connection. Make sure all faucets are closed inside.
- Apply air to system, blowing out water heater.
- Disconnect air.
- Place by- pass kit in by-pass mode on back of water heater.
- Open kitchen faucet.
- Apply air to system again.
- Open each faucet, toilet, shower, outside faucets and shower, blowing the water out.
- Disconnect air.
- Open cap on converter kit. Install hose, place into gallon of antifreeze.
- Turn on pump.
- Turn faucets on one at a time starting with the one farthest away from the pump. Let run
until antifreeze is visible. Noting not to forget toilet, outside shower.
- When all outlets are showing antifreeze, shut off pump. Place cap back on the winterizer
converter kit.
- Take remaining antifreeze and pour down all traps. Note: empty holding tanks and fresh
water tanks.
- Place your by-pass valves back in summer mode.
Ice makers and water filters are not included in this process.
